Siwei Village's Sunset Trail

Siwei Village used to be called Xiwei (meaning the west end) because the village is located at the west end of Nangan Island. It was renamed Siwei when ROC troops poured in during the 1950s.

In recent years, there has been a large exodus that has left only three or four families remaining in the village.

This means a weekday visit to the village is especially peaceful. After the Matsu National Scenic Area (MNSA) was established, the MNSA Administration began to rebuild and expand Siwei’s Sunset Trail, also known as the Qiugui Mountain Trail as the sunsets in Siwei are unmatched. The trail is also popular among local residents, who walk, do exercise and jog along the trail.

It is now one of the best spots to enjoy sunsets and for photographers to catch breath-taking photos. Siwei Village has risen like a phoenix, with families and couples pouring in to visit the village.
